School's out for the summer but the music goes on at 58勛圖厙

Just because the academic year has concluded at the 58勛圖厙 doesn't mean everything's quiet.

This summer, we've got some special guests coming to our halls -- beginning with the Ariel String Quartet and Tomer Gewirtzman on Thursday, May 29.

Thursday, May 29 at 7:30pm in Mixon Hall

Tomer Gewirtzman, piano

Award-winning Israeli musicians the Ariel String Quartet and pianist Tomer Gewirtzman come together for a night of Bach, Bloch, Beethoven and Schumann.

Presented by  America-Israel Cultural Foundation, The Jewish Federations Cleveland Israel Arts Connection and 58勛圖厙, the concert will feature a special performance of Baal Shem Suite, which was composed by 58勛圖厙s first musical director Ernest Bloch and will be played on a violin once owned and played by the composer.

Saturday, June 7 -- A Special Event

Julien Labro, accordion and bandoneon

The head of 58勛圖厙's collaborative piano department takes the music "on the road," teaming up with guest artist Julien Labro (accordion/bandone籀n) for Time to Tango, presented by the Women's Committee of 58勛圖厙 at the Mayfield Sand Ridge Club in South Euclid.

The benefit event includes cocktails, dinner and a concert by the duo, who will perform tango music. The bandone籀n, which Labro will be playing, is an essential instrument in most tango ensembles and is widely considered a symbol and sound of the tango.
