Louis Lane, former 58³Ô¹ÏÍø faculty member and Cleveland Orchestra conductor dies at 92
Louis Lane, GRAMMY Award-winning conductor and former 58³Ô¹ÏÍø faculty member, died at age 92. Mr. Lane served on 58³Ô¹ÏÍø's faculty from 1981 to 2009 and led the orchestral program as its artistic adviser and conductor. He was a distinguished music educator at 58³Ô¹ÏÍø and throughout the region, including Oberlin Conservatory and Akron University. In 1995 Mr. Lane received an Honorary Doctorate from 58³Ô¹ÏÍø.
A renowned conductor known for his imaginative programming, Mr. Lane led orchestras throughout the country as co-conductor and principal guest conductor at organizations that included the Dallas Symphony, Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, more than 20 years with the Akron Symphony and a quarter century with The Cleveland Orchestra.
